Molecular Mechanisms of Cell response to
Biological Sensing

Welcome

We are delighted to welcome you to the 21st Annual SIBBM Seminar, taking place from June 16–18 in Siena—a flagship event in the landscape of Italian scientific meetings.

Over the years, the SIBBM Seminar has established itself as one of the most prestigious and influential scientific events in Italy, consistently attracting outstanding international and national speakers who are leaders in innovative molecular biology research.

This year’s seminar will focus on the theme “Molecular Mechanisms of Cellular Responses to Biological Sensing”. The program is rich with fascinating topics, ranging from RNA biology—spanning fundamental discoveries to cutting-edge therapeutic applications—to the intriguing world of cell signaling and biologics as therapeutics.

The scientific program offers a stimulating selection of topics, including:

  • Gene responses to cellular sensing
(Joint Session with the Associazione di Biologia Cellulare e del Differenziamento – ABCD)
  • RNA-based regulation and cellular plasticity
  • Biologics as therapeutics
  • Cutting-edge advances in DNA replication

The SIBBM Seminar is also a unique opportunity for early-career scientists to showcase their work. A large number of submitted abstracts will be selected for oral presentations, and reduced registration fees will be available for junior participants.

Several SIBBM and other prestigious awards will be presented:

  • The SIBBM Riccardo Cortese Prize for the best oral presentation
  • The “Francesca Martini” Prize from NAnA Onlus for the best cancer research poster
  • The Francesco Amaldi Prize for best poster
  • Several SIBBM poster Prizes

In addition, the SIBBM Scientific Career Award will be presented to a deserving member during the meeting.

To open the meeting, we are pleased to host the third edition of a special pre-meeting, taking place on June 15–16, dedicated to early-career researchers, including Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-stage investigators. This pre-meeting offers a valuable opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and gain inspiration ahead of the main conference.

Participation in the pre-meeting is completely free of charge, with no additional registration fee required. In addition, travel grants for the SIBBM 2026 Annual Conference will be available exclusively to selected participants attending the EC-SIBBM pre-meeting.

We look forward to welcoming you to Siena for what promises to be an exciting and inspiring scientific gathering. Your participation is what makes this seminar truly special, and we are eager to share this experience with you.
